Down Stream Run

Down Stream Run

This piece of artwork is an original signed and numbered print done by a local artist on the Loyalsock Creek. In order to preserve its integrity, this customer brought it in to be framed with conservation methods. This is an extremely colorful piece and there are endless color and design options available. At this point, the components become governed by what the customer wants to see or what she conceived the focal point to be. In this case, she really wanted the fish and the fisherman to stand out the most. Now, the tan, being as light as it is, stood out more than the picture itself. So, that was not an option for our top mat. The green, by itself, may have been too diluted next to the picture but we used several layers. So, it accented the fish and water perfectly. The thin layer of tan worked well to highlight our fisherman. With our burnt sienna mat on the bottom, our result is a hierarchy. It not only draws the eye to the objects in the picture based on importance but, also, from the foreground to the background. The eye moves right into the fish, then to the fisherman, and finally rests on the beautiful landscape of fall- colored trees in the background. The frame, in this case, was the last edition to the design. All of the mats were fairly light and a dark frame was needed to create contrast between our lights and darks. When the mats were cut, a drop- down box was created around the description at the bottom, in the white space.
