Shadowbox | Original Artwork

This was a very unique piece of artwork and design. It was also what we would call a, “save.” The piece was brought to Frame It here already in a frame and matted. The original framing had not been done by conservation standards. The acidic adhesive being used to “float” mount the artwork as well as the acidic mat board on which the work was mounted were both slowly decaying the art, decreasing its overall value and appearance. All of those items were removed and replaced with conservation elements including the acid free tape, mat board, and glass. We chose a more sophisticated frame and a darker green to help the image stand out better. Instead of using spacers, a shadowbox was created around the image to give it its sleek finished look.
