Map Of Ireland

Map Of Ireland

A newly wed husband brought this piece in to be framed as a gift to his wife. They had traced their entire honeymoon on the map of Ireland and he wanted to preserve this piece with archival custom framing. He also wanted the design to be special and match the décor of their new home as best as it could. So, the dark walnut frame was chosen to match the woodwork. The customer had not yet painted the new house, however, and had no idea what colors to choose for the matting. This is why we used these nice, neutral colors. They would look nice against almost any wall and still compliment the image. The top mat accents those green, mountainous regions on the map and the beige highlights the rest of the land. There is blue in this picture. So, you are most likely wondering why we did not use that color at all. It was actually used in trial and, when it was laid next to the image, stole all of the attention away from the important aspects. The eye was led to the water and not the land and mountains where they had traveled. With these mat choices, we are bringing the land forward and pushing the water back. The last component that went into this composition is the dark walnut fillet. Not only does the fillet add depth and intricacy to the piece, but also ties the whole piece together. It gives the frame purpose and creates one complete, cohesive design.
